Pubic works builds and maintains the communities and systems that improve our everyday lives, strives to protect citizens and businesses in our communities, is an emergency first responder, and serves as “The Silent Arm of Public Safety.”

Public works workers come in many forms…not only in the form of public employees but private contractors who work to build and survey roads, bridges, and underground infrastructure by putting themselves in harm’s way daily to make communities better.

The APWA Alabama Chapter has established the Public Works Fallen Heroes Recognition to recognize and remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty while working as a public servant in the state of Alabama.

If you know of someone  who you would like to nominate for this honor, please email the nomination request to chapteradmin@apwa.org.
